David J. Getsy’s Abstract Bodies examines the relation of 1960s sculpture to the expanded field of gender, and regards that gender functions as the predicate for nominating art in relation to the human. In Honor of Eric Cartman is an attempt to create representational-portraiture of people I know that can be perceived as boy-ish in aesthetic, but utilizing a medium that (by its properties) isn’t solely boy-intended or boy-appropriate.

The aesthetic of the American animated-sitcom South Park can be easily viewed as something both kid-like and male-esque, yet its rating and viewer gender demographic is majorly split down the middle between males and females, and its age demographic almost evenly spans people from ages 18 to 49 years (also capturing people as young as 10 and as old as 70). All portraits are digitally created via SP-Studio which was previously promoted on the official South Park Digital Studios website.
